Dr. R. P. Mohapatra was a distinctive breed – very intellectual, introverted ,motivated, disciplined, organized and controlled. His absolute commitment to excellence and unstinting dedication to the cause of Orissan Studies, Historical research,
Archaeology,Art History, Art, Architecture, Culture and Religion has set standard by which the new generation of scholars
will measure themselves. As a colleague, as a leader, as a mentor
and a friend to the most talented people in our world, He will be greatly missed. His extraordinary work ethic and integrity inspired all who worked with him. But he will be most remembered
for his affability, his personal warmth, sauvity, punctuality. His interdisciplinary approach to history and archaeology in
accountability of details of facts made him great Historian and Archaeologist.
He distinguished himself as a great
archaeologist with his monumental work on world famous caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri.
On this home page, I'll introduce a legendary and very talented
archaeologist of Orissa who was it may rightly said BORN FOR ARCHAEOLOGY
to borrow a phrase made famous by eminent archaeologist H.D. Sankalia and talk about my reasons, to have a web site on Orissan
History, Art, Archaeology, Architecture, Culture and Religion. I might put a picture, related to Orissa on this page...or research
paper on Orissan Art, Architecture, Archaeology and Culture a picture that I especially like.
